In this episode of Energy Stories, Stephon McCoy, Vice President of Solutions at Utilidata, explains the value for North American utilities in deploying turbo-charged next-generation smart meters with higher processing power (GPU-powered). He shares how Utilidata’s hardware-agnostic Karman platform unlocks real-time intelligence at the grid edge, enabling AMI directors and operations leaders to future-proof their technology investments, manage behind-the-meter DER growth, and act faster on real-world grid conditions.
Our host is Emily Fisher, Regional Sales Manager at NET2GRID.

Stephon McCoy leads cross-functional initiatives, strategic partnerships, and AI adoption at the grid edge. He has more than seven years of experience launching and scaling B2B energy products with a focus on digital experience, SaaS, and clean energy. He holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and completed executive education at Harvard Business School.
Coming into a richer embedded environment, paired with having a stronger look back history, we're really building the NET2GRID app up and ideally leading it into a position to where it is helping lead DER controls and adjusting to real-world scenarios. That's my vision for how I see the NET2GRID app really excelling on top of the Karman platform.

Utilidata helps North American utilities modernize their distribution networks by embedding high-performance GPU computing directly into meters and grid devices. Its Karman platform processes vast amounts of data locally, enabling real-time AI decision-making, reduced data costs, and greater flexibility to integrate DERs and electrification at scale.
